Many friends in the purchase of electronic products, always in electronic products on the LCD display. One is that there are many kinds of liquid crystal displays and people are not very clear about how to classify them, and the other is that most people do not understand the various types of displays. So it is always difficult for people to choose a suitable LCD screen. This article will focus on the classification of LCD as well as various types of LCD. I hope to be able to be of some help to you.
LCD screens are mainly used in LCD TVs, electronic computers, and other electronic products. Between the layers of the display, there is a liquid crystal solution that, when energized, produces different images depending on how often the current passes through the display. Its advantages over electronic displays, such as high definition, low power consumption, and no radiation, quickly made it into the majority of the display industry.
And liquid crystal display, according to its driving way, is different, mainly divided into two categories: static matrix-driven display and dynamic matrix-driven display. We now see that the vast majority of LCDs are dynamic matrix-driven LCDs. Dynamic driven display is divided into active matrix driven display and passive matrix driven display, and the passive matrix driven display is further divided into torsional nematic type (TN) and super torsional nematic type (STN). Active matrix-driven displays can be divided into diode displays (MIM) and thin-film transistor displays (TFT). The following, respectively, introduce the characteristics of these types of LCD screens (in order to facilitate the writing, the following in the face of various types of screen introduction is used for short).
Torsional Nematic Liquid Crystal Display (TN)
TN is one of the more common passive matrix displays. It is a kind of display screen that uses liquid crystal material to illuminate a light source to show different images. Its advantage is that it can quickly image, but its color processing is not very good, so we generally use this kind of display screen to do simple image and text processing, and some electronic devices such as computers with high color requirements rarely use this kind of display screen.
Supertorsional Nematic Liquid Crystal Display (STN)
STNS are displays similar to TN, and they work in a similar way. However, the function of STN is more powerful than that of SN. It uses polymer liquid crystal material to arrange liquid crystal molecules in high density, which greatly improves the quality of imaging.
Diode-type liquid crystal display (MIM)
The MIM is one of the simpler active matrix-driven displays. It uses diodes to control the amount of current flowing through liquid crystal materials so that the LCD displays different images. However, the MIM is obsolete and has been almost completely replaced by the TFT.
Thin-film transistor display
TFT is the most popular mainstream liquid crystal display screen. This kind of display screen is used in all the computers and LCD TV sets we use. It is the most complex of all kinds of display screens at present. The components of TFT not only need to have thin film transistors and liquid crystal materials but also a series of other components such as fluorescent tubes, light guides, and polarizers. Because of the use of many optical components, it has the best color performance, which makes it the most mainstream display.
